Arnold Graaff, founder of Compuways IT Consulting and GetCertified training is from a programming and lecturing background. He studied BSc Computer Science at UJ and continued to complete his Hons BSc Computer Science degree at University of Pretoria. He started his career as a programmer in a scientific environment and successfully developed real-time systems which was sold on the international market. He then proceeded to work in more commercial systems suppliers and so got involved in training of IT programmers for the first time. He then worked in a similar position overseas and on his return in 1990 started a company for free-lance IT consultants (Compuways) while lecturing part-time at a UNISA college (for the love of it). "Training always gave me satisfaction. I love empowering people - there is nothing more satisfying than seeing someone's eyes light up when mastering a new skill. Trainers need to be technically capable, patient, observant and passionate about their subject, like me. These are the characteristics I look for when I employ lecturers. All our lecturers have a tertiary qualification in IT and a successful track record in lecturing. Although many students' main aim is to just get international certification, employers realise that alone it is not enough to be employed. The best way to understand a certification question is to practise everything as far as possible practically. This is why we try to include as much as possible practical exercises and projects in our courses. We do not want to deliver graduates that can pass an international exam and is not sure how to put things into practise."
BEE level 4 We are BEE Level 4 compliant.
International Certification Our mission is to assist students to pass their international exams. We achieve this by delivering our courses with a strong practical flair, instead of focusing only on exam questions and answers. Our ASP.NET course helps students to build a fully-fledged website that they can use. Our Java Developer Course help students to build a fully fledged application for a small business that can be used : 1) By the business 2) To be handed in fir their international SUN exam in SCJD certification (to the SUN Standards) 3) To get a job as we do more than a SUN Project. We do it in the way the industry is using Java / J2SE at the moment The benefit of practicality is 2 fold:
The recommended procedure is to pass our course, and then prepare for the international exam - book it on http://www.prometric.com . Our lecturers are always on-hand to answer any questions you may have. News |
